How to install a terrace with Structural® joists?

The system Structural® of CobraFastener® was designed to make the installation of a terrace simple, fast and precise.

It adapts to all configurations: terrace on the ground, on pedestals, raised on foundation screws.

Here are the 3 main steps to follow to succeed in your installation.

1. Prepare the structure

First of all, determine the nature of the support (stabilized soil, concrete slab, foundation blocks or screws) and the type of covering desired (wooden, composite slats or ceramic slabs).

• Position the adjustable studs or the foundation screws according to the maximum span allowed by the joists:
• 40×60 mm → max. center distance 1m
• 80×60 mm → center distance 2m
• 120×60 mm → center distance 3m
• Check that each joist is level, flat and properly ventilated.
• Orient them perpendicularly in the direction of installation of the blades.

2. Assemble the Structural® joists

The assembly of the Structural® skeleton is fast and precise:

• Connect the joists using the jointing sleeves, corner connectors or Omega connectors.
• The connectors are self-supporting in the grooves. Makes one-handed screwing easier.
• Fix and click the joists on the studs.
• Check the flatness before laying the decking and adjust the pedestals.

Aluminum provides a base stable and perfectly straight, without risk of deformation.

3. Fix the decking or slabs

The STRUCTURAL® concept is compatible with all types of coverings:

• For wood or composite blades:
• Use the CobraFastener® clips adapted (Hybrid, Hybrid 8-18, 7-22, 8-25) + Airspacer.
• Respect a expansion game between the blades and around the edges.
• Check for proper alignment at each row
• Save a double joist with the Xtend part
• For ceramic tiles:
• Put them down slab supports STRUCTURAL® directly on the joists.
• Maintain a regular spacing of 3 to 5 mm between the slabs.

You obtain a flat, ventilated and durable terrace, with a professional appearance.
