The Cobra® Hybrid 8-25 Clip concept
The Cobra® Hybrid 8-25 clip is a bi-material fastener in matt black to avoid light reflections. The asymmetrical 304 stainless steel hooks ensure that the boards are held firmly and securely against the joist, without restricting the necessary movement of the wood. Only one screw is needed per clip, thanks to its self-drilling head, and a simple bit (supplied with clips and screws) means it can be installed on the joist without pre-drilling.
This decking clip is suitable for hardwood boards (KD stable and dried species) and thermo-modified wood.
The Cobra® 8-25 clip is part of the Cobra® Hybrid range of clips:

The Cobra® Hybrid 8-25 clip is compatible with all types of hardwood boards, for installation on wood or aluminum joists.
The 304 stainless steel wings ensure the good support of the blade against the joist while controling the board's movement. On one side, the claw wings fix the blade, and on the other, the curved wings holds the blade while allowing the expansion of the wood.
The polypropylene clip body absorbs the expansion of the boards as it deforms.

Optional: the AIRSPACER wedge
The Cobra Airspacer wedge promotes ventilation between the boards and the joist without affecting the action of the fixing clip and the movements of the wood.
Its adapted design fits perfectly under the hollow base of the Cobra Hybrid clips for easy and quick installation.
The Airspacer wedge helps to limit the shear effect on the mounting screw.
Installing Deck Boards with Cobra® Hybrid 8-25 Clip

STEP 1. Fix the Start/End clip then put the first deck boards. |
STEP 2. Place the clip (claw side) in the groove of the boards and then plug the next boards (curved side) to stop on the clip wedge. |
STEP 3. Screw the clip while holding the deck boards. Use a hammer for proper boards insertion. |
STEP 4. Repeat until the last boards and finish with the final Start/end clip. |
No need for clamps, clamps or boards spacers, the Cobra® clip reduces the building time of your deck by at least 30%, A single screw that is pre-fitted is sufficient per clip and thanks to its self-drilling screw, a simple bit (sold with clips and screws) is required to attach the Cobra® fastener to the joist.
Our tips for laying
A - Wood KD (Kiln Dried): In an environment with a moisture percentage between 16% and 20%, be sure to respect a spacing of 6 mm maximum.
B - Very dry wood: In an environment with a humidity percentage below 16%, be sure to respect a gap of 8 mm.
Recommendations: Hardwood Kiln Dried, used at a humidity close to 18%.
C - In an environment where it rains often, the maximum swelling is 4 mm
D - In a sunny environment, the maximum allowable spacing of 13 mm.
Important: finger-jointing the boards
To join the two boards together, it is essential to double the joist so that two separate clips can be fitted at each end of the board.
The maximum distance between two joists is 40 centimetres.
A universal clip
The Cobra Hybrid 8-25 clip is universal. It screws on all your joists, whether wooden or aluminum, thanks to a high-performance screw and self-drilling. Aluminum joists wall should be 2mm thick at the minimum.
We have developed this clip to meet all your decking projects.
A strong resistance to tearing
Our design office has submitted this model of clip "Hybrid" made with two complementary materials to take advantage of their intrinsic characteristics. The Cobra® Hybrid 8-25 clip and screw are resistant to extreme temperatures, insects, chemicals, chlorine, frost and humidity without oxidizing.
The tear resistance differs according to the type of joist: 205 kg on aluminum joist, 320 kg on hardwood joist and 135 kg on softwood joist.
For any project less than 50 m from the coast or in confined places, little ventilated and under constant saline atmosphere (in "polluted" environments), please consult us.
Optional: Start and end clip
The Start/End clip or the Start and End clip can be used in addition to avoid any visible screws on the decking.
Alternatively, Cobra® stainless steel WPC coloured head screws can be used.
A removable structure: the steps to replace a boards
A special tip with elongated head to screw (or unscrew) between the two boards is provided. A major advantage to replace a defective board or access the cables under your deck without having to disassemble the entire structure. Here are the steps:
1. Unscrew the clips
2. Spread the clips on the ends
3. Remove the old boards
4. Place the new boards
5. Replace the clips
6. Screw in the new boards

A box of 90 clips allows to install a wooden deck with a surface between 4 m² and 5 m²
